In 1978, friends and family who practiced yoga together joined resources and talent to start Mother’s Market & Kitchen, a natural foods market and restaurant. They wanted to provide the community with vegetarian foods and related lifestyle products that were not readily available at other stores. What began in 2,500 square feet in Costa Mesa has grown into six Southern California locations, serving over 50,000 people a week. The Huntington Beach store followed Costa Mesa in 1984 and Surf City has embraced what we do. Irvine, a developing community, was in need of a natural foods market and Mother’s answered the call in 1996. Four years later, the Laguna Woods Mother’s opened. With customer requests and encouragement from the Santa Ana City Council, we opened to rave reviews in Santa Ana in 2008. It is our largest store – so far – and we are so pleased to be able to offer even more of all that is available in natural foods. Our most recent opening was August 2009 in Anaheim Hills and the store and staff is ready to serve!

Henry's Farmers Market established its roots in 1943 as a family-owned business selling truckloads of fresh, local peaches on a street corner in San Diego under the name Boney's. Since then, Henry's has opened stores throughout California and has become a local favorite by offering that same old-fashioned shopping experience reminiscent of produce stands and neighborhood butchershops of the 1940s and 1950s.
